Paul Simon Public Policy Institute

Co-Sponsored Events

The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute seeks to help other campus organizations and groups host quality events and speakers for the SIUC community.  The following guidelines must be observed to qualify for the institute’s co-sponsorship and help assure good event for all involved:

    1. The event must be consistent and related to the historic mission of the Institute, including but not limited to promoting ethical behavior in government, student involvement in politics and civic affairs, quality journalism, environmental protection, political debate and American foreign policy.
    2. The main attraction of the event or lecture must be free and open to the public.
    3. Groups may charge a nominal fee or seek donations for a meal but admission to the main speech must remain free and open to the public.
    4. Groups should specify to us in writing what, precisely, they expect the Institute to do in return for becoming a co-sponsor.  Groups should also specify what they expect the Institute to do on behalf of the event.  There should be no ambiguity about who is responsible for what, i.e. meal costs, room reservations and rentals, transportation of guests or publicity for the event.
    5. Groups should review personally with the director, associate director or their designee these details.
    6. Only the director or the associate director can grant permission for co-sponsorship.
